The fixed wire electrical installation is made up of all the wiring from the electricity boards main fuses through to the final point of use, for example, light fittings or socket outlets.

The purpose of the fixed wire electrical inspection and test is to help prevent the risk of fire, electric shock, electrocution and damage to electrical equipment. It is also a check to confirm that your electrical installation conforms to the current wiring regulations.

Any observations or recommendations are recorded by the BPD test engineer in the inspection and test results and awarded a code number to help you the client, make a decision on which problems to address. Code numbers range from 1 to 4, one requiring immediate attention, two requiring improvement, three requiring further investigation and four does not meet the current IEE regulations.

The BPD test engineer will be available to give advice on the results and recommendations page of the report and quotations for carrying out any repair work can be provided, appropriate certification can then be issued to clear the problems outlined in the report.
